Niagara Falls, Ontario – The captivating dance drama “My Mulan” made a triumphant debut last night at the Fallsview Theatre, Niagara Falls Convention Centre. The event marked a significant milestone for the production, as it was the first time “My Mulan” was performed outside the Greater Toronto Area, and it was met with resounding success!

Presented by the Canadian Mulan Culture Promotion Association and the Canadian International Dance Culture Association, and produced by My Mulan Culture Inc. and Lindance Academy of Performing Arts, “My Mulan” is North America’s first original dance drama inspired by the legendary Chinese heroine Hua Mulan. This high-caliber production reinterprets the classic story for contemporary audiences, blending rich cultural heritage with modern artistic expression.

The breathtaking premiere took place in the iconic setting of Niagara Falls, adding an extra layer of magic and grandeur to the experience. The audience, which included representatives from local government, multicultural media, business development members, and supportive sponsors, was enthralled by the stunning performances that brought Mulan’s story to life.

The evening was further elevated by the presence of esteemed guests, including Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, Mr. Cheng Hongbo, and Vice Consul Ms. Guo Jian. Member of Parliament Tony Baldinelli, MPP Wayne Gates, Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati and city councilor Mona Petal, the board member of Niagara Falls Canada Hotel Association Mr. Don Calaguiro and CEO of Business Link Media Group Ms Marilyn Tian also attended the debut show, each expressing their admiration for the production and its cultural significance.

From the captivating performances to the beautiful storytelling, it’s clear that Mulan’s spirit resonated deeply with our audience. The Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, Mr. Cheng Hongbo said, “This event showcases the beauty of China’s cultural heritage through dance,” said a representative from the production. “The success of our debut here in Niagara Falls is a testament to the universal appeal of Mulan’s story, which resonates across cultures and generations.”

Mayor Jim Diodati of Niagara Falls passionately welcomed “My Mulan” to the city and, after watching the performance, shared his praise: “The My Mulan Fantasy Dance Drama show was outstanding!! Well-timed, tightly choreographed, great costumes, amazing dance/martial arts/gymnastics, and so professional!!”

Adding to the accolades, Don Calaguiro, Board Director of the Niagara Falls Canada Hotel Association, praised the show and extended his warm welcome to “My Mulan.” He emphasized the production’s role in fostering a positive business climate for Ontario’s hospitality industry, recognizing the potential of such cultural events to boost tourism and economic growth in the region.

The producer, Mr. Hu Xu, emphasized collaboration, dedication, and the shared commitment to cultural enrichment and economic vitality. Having previously supported SickKids, Scouts Canada, and the Yee Hong Foundation, “My Mulan” announced that a portion of the proceeds from this performance will be donated to the Niagara Health Foundation to support the wellness of local residents.

While in class one day, she is introduced to the story of MuLan and becomes inspired.
